Terrible customer service - verification process

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I currently have a Fidelity Visa card that is serviced by Elan Financial Services ("Elan"). I have used this card since 2014.

Over the years it has been a struggle with fraud prevention department. Whoever determines the information and or ways to prevent fraud and keep the customer happy has failed miserably. I recently could not verify my driver's license (did not have it with me) and I could not verify the phone number Elan had in their system, I could verify my home phone, my cell # and my wife's cell #, but could not verify the number that was in the Elan system (possibly Elan had something wrong? My wife & I have not changed our numbers in some 15 + years) - so you figure it out.

Anyway your fraud prevention people (boy are they sharp) failed to verify actual card holders, yes they asked several other questions like last 4 of social, address, what state social issued, DOB, what car I drive, neighbors name - I thought they were going to ask me to take a video of myself doing a flip - anyway their system of verification failed. Therefore you have 1 less customer.

Yes, I realize you have hundreds of millions customers and I am just one so - who really cares.

Keep doing what you are doing and I will have to try to find another card that does not use your services - which may prove to be difficult. This probably explains why you have such terrible customer service - monopoly........

Call me w/ questions - Toni - 404-307-****

This com[any has no business handling anyone's account. Elan has no clue about keeping customer's accounts secure.I have no problem with them closing my account for inactivity, because they just don't deserve to stay in business.

shame on Fidelity for exposing their customers to Elan and not giving them another choice

$16,000.00 Limit on my card, had it for six years and WHAM! Closed with no acceptable reason given when I called.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Customer service clerk claimed a paper letter was mailed out--sure it was; I live on a rural road and have for twenty years, no piece of mail has ever come up missing on me! Okay then, why wasn't I also emailed about the reason for the account being closed?? Clerk was stumped for a answer as Elan has my email address! I had used the card one month before the card was cancelled and had paid my balance off. I guess that isn't what they want; they probably want you to keep a balance on your card and NOT pay it off every month so they can make some interest from you. Otherwise, you're card is CANCELLED!! Thanks for embarrassing me in line at my local WALMART, jerks! I tried to swipe my card twice at a checkout and the card was declined both times! THIS is how I discovered my account had been closed! Luckily I was able to use my American Express instead. THE UNITED STATES JUSTICE DEPARTMENT AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SHOULD START AN INVESTIGATION INTO ELAN FINANCIAL SERVICES' PRACTICES AND STANDARDS. SOMETHING FISHY AND NOT TOO KOSHER SEEMS TO BE GOING ON THERE JUDGING BY ALL OF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS WEBSITE ALONE! Perhaps we will be seeing a story on this matter in the near future on the 6:30 evening news.

What do you mean acceptable? Sounds like you got an answer you didn't like.

CC companies DO NOT HAVE TO LET YOU KNOW they're shutting you down. And yes, they do want usage and balances. If you don't, they'll drop your limit and/or shut you down and spread your limit to others who will actually make them money. They are a for profit group.

This is America, if you've lived on an RR for 20 years, you know how this works.OK, let's have it... I must work for(insert company).

Listen, *** OBVIOUSLY you work for Elan F.S. or a similar company and are extremely biased in their favor.

I have 13 other credit cards issued by ALL of the major card companies out there that I have had for years and NOT ONE of them has EVER closed the account I have with them for non-usage or intermittent use. My FICO score is 751. They can take that card and my account and shove them up their corporate *** for all I care; I have the others that I can use when needed.

You need to SHUT your pie hole and keep your fingers off of your keyboard until you have ALL of the facts before commenting. Have a nice day now.

Yes, there is something very fishy about Elan. I have an account with yhem, and carry a balance, which I intend to pay off soon, after they raised the interest rate, almost 5% , just recently.

When I called and asked why they raised interst rate, after never missing a payment in 8 years, the representative said she didn't have a clue. I told her, they could raise the rate on new purchases but, I will pay off balance and never, ever use this account again.

Worst company ever!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Elan charged my credit card account for old charges I already paid and would not remove them. It took months to resolve the problem, many phone calls!

Be careful as Fidelity and other companies are using them as the servicer! This means you are not getting the quality of Fidelity, you are getting the service of Elan!

White label credit cards are big business and that is a large part of Elan Financial Services income. They hide their reputation behind the company you trust, and you don't even know Elan is in the servicer unless you search for it or ask. ALWAYS ASK!

Amazon works with a reputable company on its credit card JP Morgan Chase.

Many companies do, but some have chosen to work with Elan, and for that, I can't carry those cards with me or have them. Cancel any Elan cards before they make a mistake at your expense.

They shut down my account and took all my points for no reason. I’ve used this card for so many years. First time I called they said their whole system was down and couldn’t help Second time I called I waited 30+ mins and finally gave up Third time I called and as soon as I asked for a translator the lady gave me attitude and then hung up on me Fourth time finally got through. The man was really nice but the company basically said *** you I'm coming your account Really a terrible experience

Elan has cancelled so many cards, without a good reason. Apparently, when customers ask why, they just say, we can. They haven't closed mine yet, but, might soon, do to inactivity . Last year, I checked total amount of days, in they're billing cycles, for the year, and was alittle over 365. When confronting representative, she admitted this was true, but said they would make up for it later. Well, to me, this says, they charged me too much interest. After all, there are only 365 days in a year. Even Chase told me, that would not be legal. Many more complaints, but all the reviews, seem to cover. So if Elan wants to close my acct. for inactivity, they can go ahead. The *** with a temporary credit score drop .

Lets you add authorized users. Great! Cancels your card when you do! Sucks!!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have family members I am trying to help get back on their feet. I added them as authorized users. They haven't even had the opportunity to use MY card that I'm responsible for paying on, before Elan Financial cancelled my card. They sent me a letter stating card had been suspended, and before I could even call in to find out what was going on I got notification from TransUnion that my card had been cancelled. When I did call, they cancelled me because we used authorized users!! Which they let people do!!

What kind of a business gives you the opportunity to use YOUR OWN credit card a certain way, then cancels your card when you do? Elan Financial.

We have excellent credit too! But that doesn't matter. If you don't play by their rules, you know, the ones they tell you to play by then cancel you when they do, then they don't want you.

MY SUGGESTION??? RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN TO ANOTHER CREDIT CARD COMPANY!

Credit Card Purchase Penalty/Fee

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Elan Financial Services administrates (operates) the VISA card sponsored by my long time local federal credit bureau.

My wife and I have been married for 35+ years and I'm always looking for different gifts for her for Christmas. This past December 2017, for the first time, I purchased her a one year subscription for one game with NYS Lottery for $104. Elan Financial Services charged me a $20 fee for this purchase.

My past experience with the VISA card/Elan had been relatively good with no late payments. My credit score has routinely been between 750 - 800 for many years. My use of the card annually was between $7,000 - $8,000.

I requested the $20 penalty ( I call it a penalty they call it a fee), be waived and my request was denied. So I started looking at other credit card accounts. I found NO other company's that charge this penalty for state lottery purchases.

I have cancelled my account with Elan and opened a credit card account with another local credit union.

I can not recommend this company or any credit cards it operates or oversees.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My account was closed due to inactivity even tho i made a purchase just prior to them closing my account. Their interest rate was way to high for having excellent credit and no rewards were offered either, tried to negotiate a lower rate but they flat out refused. They continue to send me offers for another card but after they closed my account for "paying off my charge i made to keep it open" they have some nerve to ask for my business again.

That's 9 yrs. too long.

Secured credit card application declined

About 3 weeks ago my son, who is a college student, applied for a secured credit card through his bank where he has banked for many years. He doesn't have much money, but I insisted he should get a credit card to begin building his credit history. It took 2-1/2 hours to apply with a bank representative to go through the application process and he put up $500 of his hard earned money for security that Elan would keep in an account in case of default. Letter came today saying he was declined because of his student loan debt (deferred). The whole point of having a secured credit card is that Elan would be protected from default by the $500 on account, which also would be the credit limit! So, what the? Reasons given in the letter:

>insufficient length of credit history

>insufficient revolving credit history

>insufficient bankcard credit history

If they won't issue a secured credit card, how the heck is he ever going to build a history? Stupid, stupid, stupid. What a worthless company

I missed one payment by 1 day and was charged full amount interest everything they could hit me with they got. These people told me that even if I paid 1minute late that I would still be hit with fees just as I did.

What kind of credit card company doesn’t give you a grace period.....what company in general when paying any bill does not give you a grace period. Do not get this card or any affiliates. This card is completely obscured and it’s employees are crooks. They want your money just as every credit card company, but this company finds sneaky ways to get more money out of you.

I ended up saying f u to elan financial and letting the, know that everyone I know will be dropping them. That’s a fact by the way. So I did as I said and now elan lost customers and will never get that back again. I will be spreading the word about this horrible credit card.

Elan what the *** kind of name is that for a credit card. This card should be banned. Amex {{REDACTED}}. Good luck I hope that my money help all you wipes get nice cars big houses and fancy clothing.

Elan you will regret this.....your business will eventually crash and implode. Good bye

Worst Customer Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They deactivated my card without my knowledge and I wouldn't be receiving a card for 7-10 business days BUT of course with an extra charge of $20 they would ship it sooner. After I called they admitted that there was some fraud but after months of it going on only noticed it now. I had to sit on the phone with them and go line by line with which transitions are mine and which aren't. I told them I needed my card for travel purposes and would work with them in regards to cancelling my old card. They were unwilling to compromise and now I set with no card and have to travel all next week. Worst customer service EVER! If at all possible, stay away!

Close your account whenever they feel like

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I checked my credit report and learned that my $6k Elan card had been canceled the previous month due to inactivity. It had been less than a year!

When I called they couldn't tell me what their inactive card policy was, refused to reinstate it (even though I caught it in under 2 weeks, no thanks to them), and stated that the specifics were in a letter that had been sent in the mail that I never got (and surprise they couldn't send the letter again). I used to work for a bank selling their cards, DO NOT GET AN ELAN CARD WHATEVER YOU DO!!!!

I have seen them screw so many people over and now they just ruined my credit completely out of the blue. I've never left a review before in my life until now.

It;s sad to think you have to check you're credit report to know if a credit card company has closed you're account. Elan, if you're reading this, This little game you play , of closing customer's accounts, for inactivity, etc.

without contactingcustomers, is pretty childish.

Do you get you're thrills out of lowering people's credit scores? Don't you have any intelligent people, working for Elan?
